For the closing concert of the Wallen Festival, the Oude Kerk welcomes none other than Kit Downes. The acclaimed pianist and organist performs on the Vater-Müller Organ.

About Kit Downes

Downes (1986) is the winner of a BBC Jazz Award and was nominated for the Mercury Music Award. He has released several highly acclaimed albums on the renowned label ECM Records. Downes has collaborated with, among others, drum-and-bass pioneer Squarepusher, singer-songwriter Sam Amidon, and jazz ensemble Empirical. He has also composed music for the London Contemporary Orchestra and Ensemble Klang. He is a composing member of ENEMY, the “monster trio” with double bassist Petter Eldh and drummer James Maddren, with whom he has released two albums.

About the Wallen Festival
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2026, the fourth edition of the Wallen Festival will take place: a festive and wide-ranging neighbourhood festival in which residents, entrepreneurs, cultural institutions and community organisations come together to showcase the richness of Amsterdam’s historic city centre. The festival offers a varied programme of performances, guided tours, workshops, tastings and encounters across almost 100 locations throughout the Wallen and Nieuwmarkt area.
