About Farida Amadou
Bassist and sound artist Farida Amadou is one of the most striking new figures to emerge from the improvisation scene. Known for her raw, intuitive approach to improvisation, she has grown into an important force within experimental music. She has collaborated with artists such as Thurston Moore, Peter Brötzmann and Moor Mother. By combining free jazz, noise and deep rhythmic structures, Amadou creates immersive soundscapes that balance intensity with clarity. Her solo work, including the widely acclaimed When It Rains It Pours (2024), showcases her unique ability to shape spontaneous sonic worlds with power, precision and emotional depth.

About Silence
The music series Silence is a programme of morning concerts. Every first Friday of the month, as the city awakens, musicians explore the centuries-old acoustics of the Oude Kerk. At the heart of the Silence series is contemporary music, where acoustic, digital, and electronic sounds merge. Following in the footsteps of Sweelinck’s walking concerts centuries ago, the audience can move through the historic architecture while engaging with the music.
