About Hayo Boerema

Hayo Boerema (b. 1972) is regarded as one of the leading organists in the Netherlands. Since 2005, he has been the organist of the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam and the regular continuo player for the Laurens Orchestra. As a performer, composer and teacher, he makes the organ accessible to a wide audience. In his interpretations, he seeks out extremes and contrasts – from Sweelinck to contemporary music – and regularly collaborates with choirs, ensembles and soloists from a variety of genres. Boerema studied organ at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. He has won prizes at several competitions and festivals, and maintains an extensive concert career with recitals both in the Netherlands and abroad.
