About the exhibition
Especially for the Oude Kerk, artist Minne Kersten has developed an audiovisual installation that draws a connection between spiritual imagination and the magic of the earliest film techniques. The twenty-five-metre-high spiral staircases of the Oude Kerk form a central motif in the work. In There’s Always Another Twist, Minne Kersten explores how religious architecture and myths, much like early film techniques, employ visual illusions and effects such as visions and hallucinations to evoke an alternative reality.
