Name: Stichting Oude Kerk Amsterdam

RSIN:
003135718

Objective:
The Oude Kerk brings together contemporary art and heritage, creating a dynamic meeting place where the past, present, and future engage in dialogue. Within the unique historical context of Amsterdam’s oldest church, the Oude Kerk presents innovative art projects that encourage reflection and debate on social and art-historical themes. We invite artists to develop new works that interact with the surroundings, history, and evolving meanings of the monument. Through this, we aim to open new perspectives, highlight overlooked histories, and explore the layered nature of collective memory in dialogue with diverse communities and visitors. Through exhibitions, public programmes, and research, the Oude Kerk contributes to a broad cultural and social discourse, with a focus on equality and collectivity.

Governance Structure:
The Stichting Oude Kerk Amsterdam is managed by the Managing Director. The Foundation also has a Supervisory Board responsible for overseeing the policies of the Executive Board and the general affairs of the Foundation. Additionally, the Supervisory Board provides the Executive Board with advice and guidance.

Remuneration Policy:
The salary and other employment conditions of the Managing Director are determined by the Supervisory Board, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations (Public and Semi-Public Sector Executives’ Pay Standards Act). Members of the Supervisory Board do not receive remuneration for their role. However, any expenses incurred in the performance of their duties are reimbursed on a declarative basis. The employees of the Oude Kerk fall under the Directive for Job and Salary Structure of Presentation Institutions for Visual Arts by De Zaak Nu.

Policy Plan:
In the heart of Amsterdam, in a church consecrated in 1306 where art and spirituality have played a daily role, the Oude Kerk takes societal issues and collective memory as the foundation of its contemporary art programming. With this programme, we aim to inspire reflection and discussion in response to an ever-changing society, focusing on equality and community. The Oude Kerk, therefore, positions itself as a structure shaped by people, where the interplay between a historical monument and contemporary art is at its core.
