Silence #51: Upsammy

For the 51 edition of Silence, DJ Upsammy is developing a site-specific music performance for the Oude Kerk.

About Upsammy
Upsammy, (Thessa Torsing), is a versatile Dutch artist and DJ from Amsterdam. She creates music that exudes both comfort and desolation, with a keen sense of melodic and rhythmic elements. Her musical compositions, characterised by their organic touch, shift between different tempos and are enriched by collaborations with visual artist Sjoerd Martens. Having studied Image and Media Technology at the Utrecht University of the Arts, Torsing explores the interaction between sound, photography and video, which influences her music production. She has established a strong position in the contemporary left-wing music scene, with residencies at NTS Radio and Amsterdam's Garage Noord, and performances at festivals such as Unsound and Rewire. Torsing has released several singles, EPs and albums on labels and events such as Nous'klaer Audio, Dekmantel and PAN.
